ANV Acquires Specialty Comp Insurance Solutions from Hub International

ANV Group Holdings Ltd. (“ANV” or “the Company”), a global insurance intermediary platform, has successfully completed the acquisition of Specialty Comp Insurance Solutions (“SCIS”) from Specialty Program Group, a subsidiary of Hub International. SCIS is a Texas-based managing general agent specializing in tough-to-place monoline workers’ compensation insurance.

The acquisition expands ANV’s U.S. specialty insurance capabilities by adding a differentiated workers’ compensation MGA focused on middle-market accounts and risks that are typically underserved by the standard market. SCIS wrote approximately $250 million of gross written premium in 2025 and currently manages a well-diversified portfolio spanning key industries including construction, manufacturing, and healthcare. SCIS also has a significant presence in the temporary staffing industry. The business is supported by a team of seasoned underwriting professionals with decades of specialty workers’ compensation expertise.

SCIS joins Risico, ANV’s California-based agricultural workers’ compensation MGA, as part of ANV’s broader strategy to build a scaled, diversified workers’ compensation platform spanning program underwriting, wholesale distribution, and specialty niches across the U.S. market.

Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Dallas, Texas, SCIS operates with a team of 20 employees led by an experienced executive group with deep backgrounds in specialty underwriting, actuarial science, and program management. The team is led by Steve Math, Executive Vice President, a 35-year insurance executive and Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society with prior leadership roles at Texas Mutual, Argo Group, and ACE USA; Alan Wynn, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Underwriting Officer, who brings over 22 years of experience at Argo Group where he most recently served as SVP and Head of U.S. Commercial Programs; Matthew Feury, Senior Vice President of Underwriting, who has led SCIS’s underwriting strategy since 2012 and brings over 20 years of specialty workers’ compensation expertise from prior roles at QBE, ACE/Chubb, and AIG; and Mike Beck, Senior Vice President and Field Underwriting Officer, who has supported the SCIS program since it began operations in 2007 and brings deep specialty workers’ compensation expertise from prior roles as Vice President of Workers’ Compensation Underwriting at QBE North America, Senior Workers’ Compensation Underwriting Director at ACE/Chubb, and Senior Classification Analyst at NCCI.

“Adding SCIS alongside Risico, our existing workers comp business, establishes ANV as a leading provider of middle-market workers comp with diversified underwriting expertise and a go-to option for hard-to-place risks,” said Adam Karkowsky, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ANV. “Together these businesses form the foundation of a differentiated workers’ compensation platform with real depth across the U.S. market.”

“Parting with SCIS is not a decision we took lightly — we very rarely sell businesses. However, faced with a unique set of circumstances, we determined that a sale to ANV was the right path forward for our insureds, broker partners, and employees. ANV’s deep capacity relationship with AmTrust and closely aligned philosophy gave us confidence in this decision, and we look forward to supporting them as a trusted trading partner” said Chris Treanor President & CEO of Specialty Program Group.
